Eskae Sponsor silent auction prize at the Starlight Fundraiser

ESKAE Jeweller attended an sponsored a silent auction prize at this years Starlight Foundation Fundraiser:- 5 Designers Fashion Parade which was held on Friday the 21st November.

this is a great event that helps raise money for seriously ill kids, so that they can have their dream come true, both in and out of the hospital. the foundation brightens the lives of not only the kids, but also those of the parents as well, during a tough time in their lives. you can find out more information here.

during the fashion parade, we were treated to the fashion of leading designers such as BOWIE WONG and CHARLIE BROWN. these two designers for me were the highlight as they really hit fashion on the nose and showcased just what fashion is all about! feeling fantastic and expressing yourself the way you want to.

Bianca Dye from nova 969 was the MC and she is a great laugh! my wife and i were lucky enough to meet her and ended up having a great conversation with her about lots of different things and what it is like presenting on national radio sounds like a fun way to earn your living! we also met the 2008 miss Australia runner up, Sonia Lipski, this young lady is a class act, beautifully presented and all with a depth of person that is not common in people of her age group, i certainly don’t remember being so self aware at 20! good luck to Sonia in the 2009 competition.

all in all our night was a great experience and we are very happy to help out in any way we can possible, especially for sick kids. i would encourage any of you who are interested and able, to get in touch with Pino Foti at pino.foti@starlight.org.au he will be able to help you out and will certainly be able to point you in the right direction if you would like to contribute to the foundation in any way possible.

we do have some pics of the night, however our cameras battery ran out, as we forgot to charge it! we are waiting for the pics to come through from a friend of ours, once they arrive we will post them up here for you all to see.

our prize did go to a winner, we were able to raise several hundred dollars from the prize alone, which is a great result for the starlight foundation.

Sam.

P.S if you get in touch with me at Sam@EskaeJeweller.com and purchase any new piece of jewellery before the 30/11/08 i will donate 5% of the total purchase price of the item to the starlight foundation!

Please find below some photos and a brief description of the coloured gems on offer.

12.48ct Amethyst, Trilliant Cut, 16.3mm from point to point. A stone like this in this shape lends itself to being set as a pendant, with a point to the top with claws to accentuate the light coming into this beautiful colour. This stone only is $750

3.98ct Golden Zircon, Oval Cut, 9.8 x 7.4mm. This lively and bright golden colour is best set in yellow gold to intensify the colour even more, and would lend itself to being worn as a ring or pendant, and highlighted with 1-2 small white diamonds. This stone only is $930

2.81ct Green Tourmaline, Drop Cut, 10.7 x 8.3mm. This beautiful deep coloured Tourmaline has a ‘perfect’ drop shape to it, which is ideal for setting in a pendant, with the point running either way as the colour is completely even and matched throughout the entire stone. This stone only is $$500

3.37ct Rubelite Tourmaline, Drop Cut, 14 x 8mm. This intensely coloured gem has the depth of colour that is prominent in quality rubies, yet has the life and brilliance that is exhibited in tourmaline’s, with its slender shape, it is best suited for setting in a ring as this will allow you to maximise the light that will show off the colour of this gem. This stone only is $2,400.

2.90ct Rubelite Tourmaline, Oval Cut, 10.4 x 7.3mm. Again this rubelite has an intense colour about it, however it has slightly more pink in it than the above stone, it has a great shape and depth of colour to it that will be perfect in either a classically styled ring or simple and elegant pendant, possibly highlighted with a few small white diamonds. This stone only is $1,475

2.14ct Aquamarine, Marquise Cut, 14 x 7mm. this gemstone has a ‘perfect’ proportion in its length to width and will be spectacular as a stylish pendant drop that has been accentuated with several small white diamonds between the chain and the Aquamarine. It is a lively stone and has great depth of colour. This stone only is $1,765
5.01ct Yellow Sapphire, Fancy Cushion Cut, 10.4 x 9mm. A classic and beautifully shaped gemstone which will be ideal for that ring on your right hand, you could use some white diamonds to highlight the already bright colour or set it on its own, either way this Sapphire will be a dazzler! This stone only is $7,500
1.33ct Pink Sapphire, Trilliant Cut, 6.5mm. This pink, has the typical and most sought after depth of colour that a pink sapphire will ever exhibit. This is a collectable gemstone and will be a fantastic addition to your jewellery collection. This stone only is $2.350
Total= 1.87ct matched Emeralds, Drop Cut. This set will only be sold as a pair. Obviously these great emeralds will make beautiful earrings, allowing you to drop them off the ear for some extra sparkle, enhance them with a couple of small white diamonds to really catch the light and peoples attention! This set only is $4,900

3.21ct Ceylon Sapphire, Oval Cut, 10.5 x 7.5mm. the depth and play of colour in this vibrant sapphire will make this a gemstone to covet, with its ‘ideal’ proportions setting this in a ring is the best way to maximise its colour and life. Keeping it open so the light can pass through the stone will only enhance the play of colour. This stone only is $8,250

3.03ct Ceylon Sapphire, Fancy Drop Cut, 9.3 x 9mm. with its unusual shape and its vibrant and playful colour, you will get the best looking piece if you surround it in small white diamonds and set it as a magnificent pendant. This stone only is $8,150
NB:- prices quoted are for the stones only, and include GST. However the prices quoted do NOT include the cost of any crafting of jewellery, ESKAE will quote you for the desired piece.

Care of Jewels

What is the best way to care for my diamonds and precious gemstones? to be honest it is really quite straight forward and very simple! were you expecting it to be complicated and drawn out?

i will give you a tip that you can use at home. the best way for you to do this, is to

  • take a shallow bowl, fill it with water that is just a tiny little bit too hot to touch
  • add one cap full of cloudy ammonia
  • one squirt of dish washing liquid
  • let the article/s soak for a few minutes in the solution
  • take an old toothbrush and GENTLY brush the ring or piece from all angles that will give you access to the stones

A VERY SERIOUS WORD OF WARNING

this will NOT work for any coloured stone that is green. for example, emeralds, green tourmaline, peridot and so on. green gemstones do NOT like heat, they will crack and or shatter if heat is applied to them.

this will NOT work for any porous gemstones, for example pearls, coral, lapis lazuli, turquoise etc. being porous they will soak up the ammonia which will completely dry them out AND take the colour and finish away from them making them look pastie and dull

what it WILL do very nicely for you, is this, you will be able to cut away the grease and grim that has built up on the back of the stones, which dulls the fire and brilliance of any diamond, or coloured gemstone. your jewellery will come back to life some what and the diamonds and gems will sparkle and scintillate once again.

Having said this, the absolute best way for you to keep your jewellery clean and sparkling is to bring it in to ESKAE and have it done professionally. at ESKAE we know which gemstones can and cant go near heat, or near ammonia, we will bring your jewellery back to its full life so that you are the envy of all your friends and family!

if you would like to have your jewellery looking brand new, and making you feel as great as the day you first wore it, send me an email at Sam@EskaeJeweller.com and we can arrange an appointment for you to be dazzling and sparkling again!

P.S. even if your gold jewellery is looking a little bit dull and worn, bring it to me and i promise you will have a renewed piece of jewellery that you can show off, and everyone will think it is brand new!

Diamond Certification

When buying or investing in a diamond, it always pays to make sure it is certified. ESKAE only source certified diamonds, and we prefer to have our diamonds certified by the Gemological Institute of America. The GIA, is renown as the world leader in the quality and depth of their reporting on not only white diamonds, but also coloured diamonds and coloured gemstones.

While the buying and giving of a diamond, is the most important and romantic expression of love and commitment a couple can share, it is also a major investment of time, energy and money. A certificate will give you the peace of mind that you deserve after acquiring such a great and beautiful piece of mother nature.

There are some basic elements that should ALWAYS be on your certificate, you can see them here. If you have a diamond that has been certified by another laboratory and you find that some or even any of these elements are not present on your certificate, then I would suggest getting in touch with me at Sam@EskaeJeweller.com to have your diamond regraded by the worlds most forthright laboratory.

I can say this because, the GIA have a particularly strict set of guidelines that every diamond and or gemstone must meet to achieve each different grade. Your GIA certificate will detail these procedures and the scrutiny that each diamond is put through, to assess how well it compares the the 4C’s of diamonds. The GIA also have more information about the process and the 4C’s on their website, which is a great place to start if you are looking at making a purchase.

One of the best things about the GIA is that they are not affiliated with any diamond wholesaler or retailer, so you will have the extra peace of mind in knowing that the report you have is from a completely independent source. Another great feature about the reports from the GIA is that they have a security hologram, security screen and microprint lines, all of which are security measures that exceed the industry standard.

Get in touch with me now, to discuss your options about diamond certification.

Sam.

P.S if you also have any coloured gemstones you would like to have ESKAE look at for you, we can have the GIA do a GEM IDENTIFICATION REPORT for you.
