Hi Sam,

this is what we did. Got engaged then ring shopped together. I didn’t do the preprepared dinner thing either so no need for a starter ring in this case. But doing it this way around ensures you both are pleased with the outcome.

I thought you were going somewhere else with the title however. The obvious way to double the transaction for a ring, is to get one each. Just a thought.

Very interesting post Sam,

it seems there are more similarities between product design and jewelry design than I was aware of. We have similar distinctions between how much of the Electronics Design or Embedded Software Development is driven from the client side or from our side. Unless they are as skilled and informed as we are, then most clients who insist on doing things their way end up with outcomes that fall short of what was possible. Those that let us create a technological masterpiece on their behalf can end up with an outcome they could never have achieved themselves.

And in the end that is why both our businesses exist. We can provide something that our respective clients could never have achieved on their own.

I loved the picture of the blue diamond. But how did the green diamond get radiation exposure, and to what kind of radiation? It is understandable that rarer diamonds are more expensive. Likewise, rarer skills are also more expensive. In your case, a gifter private jeweller, in mine, an Analogue Electronics Engineer.
